Ye’s 2013 interview with Zane Lowe genuinely gave us enough quotes for the next decade 🎯
Fresh off ‘Yeezus’, Ye sat down for an hour and somehow went from questioning what Lady Gaga knew about cameras, to comparing himself to the glitch from ‘Wreck-It Ralph’, arguing that rap had become the new rock & roll and explaining why Nike should’ve given him a real joint venture after seeing the demand for the Yeezys, among other topics.
The funniest part watching it back is how much of the chaos actually had a point. Ye was frustrated that he could prove himself at the highest level in music, sneakers and fashion, but still needed somebody else’s permission and infrastructure to actually build the ideas he had. Even the infamous tangents about leather jogging pants, architecture, product design and wanting to build a billion-dollar company all came back to that same frustration.
Some of the quotes are hilarious completely on their own, but this interview might be one of the clearest snapsh...
