Some snapshots of this week’s bear hunt. Definitely more to come. It’s been 8+ years since my last bear hunt, which happened to be with Hallie and Kenzie on their very first bear hunt when they both harvested beautiful bears at the ages of 10 and 12. Now it was my turn to get back out and harvest this incredible animal. My daughters weren’t with me on this one, but my guide Rikki just happens to be Hallie’s age and was Idaho’s Houndsman of the Year last year. She is AWESOME! At such a young age she has honed her skills and knows how to get it done with her incredible hounds. What a blessing to hunt with her. It was amazing to watch them work together. They had this bear treed for a couple of hours while we made our way up the steep and rugged terrain. I came away so impressed by Rikki, her dogs, her stepdad Beau, and her cousin Hunter, who I was also able to spend time with.
