I have been sitting in John 6 all week. It intrigues me, because I feel it is the chapter theme for our work with Operation Conquer Hunger. Some of our life is spent feeding His sheep, seeking to meet physical needs with real compassion and real effort. That desire is sincere. But even greater is my desire to be fed by Him and to help others be fed by the bread that brings life eternal. John 6 is the chapter where Jesus feeds thousands with loaves and fishes. A miracle of compassion. A miracle of abundance. He allows us to be part of the miracle. But what strikes me most is that He did not stop with physical bread. He used hunger, something every soul understands, to point us to something far greater. They came because they were filled. They returned because they were hungry again.
