Filming yourself catching a carp was never going to be the easy option.
One pair of hands, a fish that doesn't wait, and a camera that's always pointing at the wrong thing when the alarm goes. The only way I've found to make it work is to take every decision out of the moment. Cameras go out when the rods do, placed and framed and one press from rolling. One wide frame that holds the rods, the net and the water, stood on the walk from the bivvy so it's a press on the way past. Ten seconds locked off on a tripod whenever it's quiet, because that's what a film is actually made of.
And the fish comes first, every time. One landed clean with no camera running is still a result.
If there's someone in your lot who keeps saying they'll film a session one day, this might get them started.
