3 quick garden tips for the fall 🥕🍂 🍅 If a frost is in the forest that doesn’t mean your green tomatoes are totally worthless. Pick everything off the tomato plant and bring it insides to ripen on the counter! 🥕 Some cold hardy crops like kale, Brussels sprouts and carrots will convert starch into sugar in response to the cold, actually making them sweeter after a frost. 🪱 Don’t clean your garden up too much in the fall. Leaving behind some plant residue helps add organic matter into the soil, prevents erosion and protects the ground, and can provide overwintering habitat for beneficial insects. 🌳 BONUS TIP - Fall is a great time to plant trees. There’s far less insect and disease pressure, hardly any heat or drought stress, but the soil is still warm enough to promote good root growth.
