Jake Cronenworth picked up the bat near home plate while the play was still live. Meanwhile, Fernando Tatis Jr. took advantage of the chaos and scored.
The whole thing looked so unusual, with Cronenworth basically turning into the bat boy instead of focusing on the play.
But it also raises an interesting question: was the play actually legal?
Some could argue that Cronenworth interfered by moving the bat while the play was happening. Others might say he was simply clearing an object out of the way and never interfered with the ball or a fielder.
So, should the run have counted, or should the umpire have called interference?
