Royalty in miniature 👑 Cabangus regius, the regal nudibranch. Some of you might know it by its old name, Dendronotus regius. One look at that crown of branches and you can see where the name comes from. It honestly looks like it’s wearing a headdress, and with the light passing through that see-through body, the whole thing just glows. Turns out the name says it all. Regius means royal in Latin, and Cabangus comes from “cabang,” the Indonesian word for branch. So basically a little royal with branches 🌿 Check out the front end too. Those glowing orange bits sitting in the frilly sheaths are its rhinophores, which it uses to sniff its way around the reef looking for hydroids to snack on. #nudibranch #macrophotography #underwatermacro #underwaterphotography #uwphotography
