#002 “ART IS NOT HOPELESS”
This week’s artist is an American photographer from Wisconsin named margaretdurow. I funnily enough saw this photo titled, “Temporary Castle”, appear on my TV. I’m not often moved by what I see on my TV or on most screens these days. This however grabbed hold of me tightly. The image sat still, but it moved all around inside me. I was reminded of this beautiful place by the sea I went to in March of this year. I felt like a little kid there. It was full of tired eyes and wet, cold dew from the early morning, the sounds of sheep and music. I love when art reminds you of where you’ve been and of what you’ve felt in those places. Who you were with. What they felt. Art has a funny way of forcing an aged mind to remember its youth. All of sudden that long lost memory lives as if it happened yesterday. I’m grateful and glad artist’s such as margaretdurow exist. They make me remember what I forget.
