š Queen Suthida of Thailand just completed her first solo flight in a single-seat JAS 39C Gripen fighter jet.
ā
The flight took place at Wing 7 in Surat Thani, where she had been training under Royal Thai Air Force standards ahead of the solo mission.
ā
Before taking the controls of the single-seat Gripen, she had logged more than 1,188 total flight hours across aircraft ranging from trainers and business aircraft to Boeing 737s, plus over 10 hours in the two-seat JAS 39D Gripen.
ā
King Maha Vajiralongkorn was present to watch the flight, and after she landed he presented her with flowers and the Gripen Order Golden Patch.
ā
The achievement makes her one of the very few reigning royals to personally complete this level of fighter-aircraft training.
ā
Would you trust yourself to solo a Gripen after this much preparation?
