Some people enter your life and, without even trying, change the way you see yourself, your purpose, and what’s possible. Happy birthday to my boss, my Mayor, and someone who has impacted my life in ways I’ll probably never fully be able to explain. I’ve watched you pour so much into New Orleans, into our neighborhoods, into our people, and into the future of a city we both love deeply. But what I’ll always carry with me is the way you’ve poured into me too. You trusted my eye, my work, and my voice, and that trust pushed me to grow into spaces I once only dreamed about. Getting to document your journey has become part of my own. New Orleans is better because you serve it. My life is better because our paths crossed.
