Mid90s (2018) follows Stevie (Sunny Suljic), a lonely 13-year-old boy growing up in Los Angeles during the 1990s who struggles with his difficult home life, including his relationship with his abusive older brother Ian (Lucas Hedges) and his single mother Dabney (Katherine Waterston). Looking for an escape, Stevie befriends a group of older skateboarders, including Ray (Na-kel Smith), Fuckshit (Olan Prenatt), Fourth Grade (Ryder McLaughlin), and Ruben (Gio Galicia), who introduce him to a world of skateboarding, friendship, parties, and teenage rebellion. As Stevie becomes increasingly involved with the group, he begins experimenting with new experiences and pushing boundaries in an attempt to fit in and earn their respect. However, his desire for acceptance also exposes him to dangerous situations and the complicated realities of growing up.
