Powerful floodwaters have swept away a bridge in central Nepal.
The floodwaters, surging through the Budhi Gandaki River in Gorkha district, repeatedly battered the bridge on October 11 before the structure finally gave way and was swept downstream, eyewitness footage shared on social media showed.
Nepali authorities urged villagers to move to safer areas after flooding in the Budhi Gandaki River swept away several houses and damaged infrastructure. There were no reports of casualties.
The Budhi Gandaki is a tributary of the Trishuli River, downstream from another tributary where a glacier collapse triggered a catastrophic flood in August that killed 1,457 people, with thousands still missing.
