The Arctic Circle Assembly has begun in Iceland, bringing together government officials, scientists and business leaders from more than 70 countries.
The forum is the largest international platform for Arctic engagement. The 2026 discussions will center on climate variability, melting sea ice, infrastructure development, regional security, and green energy investments across polar territories.
On October 9th, former Chinese diplomat Fu Ying will talk about China’s role in international affairs and the direction of its global strategy.
The annual gathering, held on October 8-10 at the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, is expected to draw up to 2,500 participants and about 700 speakers across more than 200 sessions, according to organizers.
