Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced on Thursday (October 8) that the British consulate in Jerusalem is "ceasing operations". ⁣ ⁣ Israel ordered the closure of the consulate in September, after the British government led Western sanctions over violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. ⁣ ⁣ Seven British diplomats have been allowed to remain in Israel.
