Before it became one of metal’s defining albums, ‘Toxicity’ was a record about Los Angeles. System of a Down (@systemofadown) came out of the city’s Armenian community and built its following in Hollywood clubs. The title track is about Los Angeles itself, from its sprawl to its smog. The night before the album’s release in September 2001, thousands of fans crowded a Hollywood parking lot for a free show that police shut down before the band could play. Twenty-five years later, Beyond The Streets (@beyondthestreetsart) is marking the anniversary with an exhibition of rare artifacts and ephemera from an era still resonating with millions. The exhibition is free and open to the public through October 18 at Beyond The Streets in Los Angeles. #systemofadown
