Double tropical trouble is heading for Mexico this Saturday, as both Tropical Storm Rachel and Hurricane Simon will make landfall then. Simon will be a strong but compact hurricane when it makes landfall in Jalisco/Colima Saturday morning, but it's the rain - and potential flooding - that could be disastrous. Up to 20 inches of rain could fall around Manzanillo northward into Jalisco on Saturday.
Rachel will be a much weaker - and drier - tropical storm when it makes landfall Saturday night a little south of Ensenada, on the Baja peninsula. This will bring rain and high surf to southern California, but probably only a few sprinkles to the San Joaquin Valley.
