President Donald Trump celebrated the completion of automatic enrollment for Trump Accounts on Wednesday, saying roughly 70 million children now have an investment account in their name.
Speaking in the Oval Office alongside business leaders, lawmakers and a group of children invited to help mark the milestone, Trump said nearly 8 million accounts had been created since the program launched in July and that more than $4.5 billion has been deposited into Trump Accounts.
“This money is your child’s future,” Trump said, urging parents to download the Trump Accounts app and claim their children’s accounts.
Trump said more than 70 companies have committed to contribute to the accounts, naming Uber, Intel, Nvidia and Steak ’n Shake. He framed the program as a way to expand stock ownership among young Americans.
“Now every member of the next generation will have an investment account and will benefit from our booming economy,” Trump said.
