Hyping myself up for my RACE tonight by watching this video of the last time I raced a road mile- the 2018 NYRR Fifth Ave Mile where I tried to take down the reigning champ, Jenny Simpson, and came soooo close but finished 2nd in 4:19.2 TONIGHT’s race is in another iconic city… Des Moines Iowa! 😜 (I’m from the Midwest so I can lovingly hate on it okayyyy) I’m here for the USATF Road Mile Championships and while I can’t say I’m in the same shape as I was when I raced a mile last time, I feel so grateful to come into this race with a healthy body and a rock solid support system behind me. This is what I wrote down on the plane yesterday: “I step to the line with all my experiences- both good and bad- I bring it all with me because it’s all been part of making up who I am today. I have so many tools in my belt from all these experiences that I can pull out in any given race scenario.” So let’s go!!!!
