I wrote STAYING because getting sober taught me something I wasn’t prepared for:
You can stop using substances and still keep running from yourself.
Sometimes the escape simply changes shape.
It becomes relationships.
Reassurance.
Attention.
Achievement.
Constant stimulation.
The need to feel chosen.
We call anxiety chemistry.
We call emotional distance mystery.
We call chaos passion.
And sometimes we keep choosing what hurts us simply because peace feels unfamiliar.
STAYING is not only a book about sobriety.
It’s about learning to stay with yourself when you’re uncomfortable. When you’re lonely. When someone doesn’t choose you. When life gets quiet. When there is nothing left to distract you from yourself.
Because emotional sobriety, to me, is not about becoming someone new.
It’s about returning to who you were before you learned to run.
This is STAYING - A Journey Back to Yourself 🤍
