Medical imaging and art meet in the exhibition “Overexposed: Art, Technology, and the Body” at Museum of the Moving Image.
Curator Sonia Shechet Epstein explores how innovations like cinema and X-ray imaging radically transformed the way we see and understand the human body. Bringing together decades of research films and contemporary works by 16 artists — including Panteha Abareshi, Zuza Banasińska, Lucien Castaing-Taylor and Véréna Paravel, Barbara Hammer, Ana Mendieta, and Agnes Questionmark—the exhibition explores how looking beneath the skin has shaped ideas about science, power, care, and identity.
“Overexposed” is on view at movingimagenyc through January 3, 2027.
