We were pleased to welcome Freshman Academy Financial Literacy & You students from Northport High School to downtown Northport for an educational walking tour led by business teachers Mr. Goodwin and Mr. DeMaria. The tour began at the Northport Historical Society, where representatives from the Northport Chamber of Commerce shared the history of Northport and discussed the important role small businesses play in our local economy and community. Students then visited several local businesses, including LaPorta, Shipwreck Diner, The Nest, Northport Books and Chase Bank. Business owners and professionals shared insights into their industries and the skills needed to succeed. Throughout the tour, students explored topics including banking, budgeting, saving, investing, entrepreneurship and financial decision-making, while also learning about career pathways, workplace expectations, customer service, leadership and communication.
