Last Sunday, the Symphony Band Chamber Winds filled McIntosh Theatre with 20th- and 21st-century music for winds, brass, and percussion, led by our graduate band conducting studio with Dr. Courtney Snyder.
On the program:
🎶 Robert Washburn, Concertino: an unusual pairing of woodwind quintet and brass quintet
🎶 Stephen Elsinger (stephen.elsinger.music), Portraits of Whimsy: two musical portraits by one of our own undergrad composers, with original hand-drawn artwork
🎶 Rubén Darío Gómez, Siempre Hay Una Primera Vez: a piece that U-M Chamber Winds premiered this summer at the WASBE Conference in Rio de Janeiro 🇧🇷
🎶 Francis Poulenc, Suite française d’aprés Claude Gervaise
🎶 Kevin Day, Symphony Basquiat: a 15-minute chamber symphony inspired by five collages by Jean-Michel Basquiat
Bravo to our conductors! 👏 Pictured left to right: Sean Hogan, Jennifer Hepp, Dr. Courtney Snyder, John Mange, and Detrich Morrison-Jones.
Next up: Band-O-Rama, Sunday, Oct 25 at 4 PM at Hill Audi...
