It was a thrill to reconnect with the students I taught in 4th and 5th grade for their high school graduation. I’m so proud of these scholars from Sunflower, Mississippi for overcoming a number of struggles including the pandemic. As Frederick Douglass said, “No struggle, no progress.” And indeed these students have progressed. They have a special place in my heart, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for them.
