In 2025, Suriname pledged to permanently protect 90% of its forests; this painting was inspired by that historic commitment. Now, all proceeds from the sale of this artwork will be donated by the artist clairemilnerart and noonpowellfineart, with funds matched by artintoacres conservation partners Re:wild, Zangrillo Family Foundation and One Small Planet. This support will help to ensure the permanent protection of 1.7 million acres (720,000 hectares) of tropical forest in Suriname, supporting the community-led work of the Saamaka People. Milner created ‘The Hidden and the Revealed,’ to support new land protection with Art into Acres. The painting visually celebrates Suriname’s commitment to protect its forests. As home to the highest percentage of forest cover of any nation, Suriname absorbs more carbon than it emits, making it one of the world’s few carbon-negative countries.
