Through the monsoon, Gir has grown green and full. The animals that spent the season unseen begin to come out. If you come in October, you meet Gir before the rest of the season does. The trails are fresh, and the air keeps the coolness of the rains. The grass stands tall, and the morning light comes through leaves. With an Aramness naturalist beside you, the forest comes alive: Asiatic lions on fresh trails, leopards in the teak, herds of spotted deer and sambar, nilgai, and crocodiles at Kamleshwar, crested serpent eagles circling overhead.
