Two alumni & Central Valley legends, 103-year-old Rodger Jensen & all-star Aaron Judge, were honored recently at the final home football game of the season by @fresnostateathletics.
Jensen, a WWII veteran, returned home after the war to Fresno to start the respected S & J Ranch, which grew oranges & olives among its many operations, and later became an early leader in the state's pistachio industry.
His love of the valley & area philanthropy led him & other Jordan College supporters to start our Ag One Foundation in 1979, which has raised over $27 million in endowed funds to support our ag students and programs.
Among that total is $1.5 million that he & his wife, Margaret, gave to create the 'Jensen Scholar' scholarship endowment for 10 of our agriculture students. A year later the California Pistachio Research Board pledged $1.5 million to establish the Rodger B. Jensen endowed professorship in pistachio physiology and pomology for our Fresno State Plant Science Department.
