Check this out: how do you know when a beat is done?
A pot of gumbo is done when it's seasoned. Every ingredient after that just dilutes it. Beats work the same way.
If you keep adding layers trying to make it sound finished, here's the problem. You're comparing your draft to finished songs. Those have vocals, a mix engineer, and mastering. No new layer closes that gap.
Run these three checks instead:
1. Mute test. Mute five tracks. If the idea still hits, the core is solid.
2. Vocal-space test. If a rapper would have nowhere to sit, the beat is crowded.
3. Bounce test. Play the loop on your phone speaker. If it still moves you, it works everywhere.
Pass all three, bounce it. Save this for your next session.

As always, stay safe. Peace.
