RMS-CES 5th grade Language Arts students enjoyed a hands-on learning experience on the school's campus with its prairie and rain gardens. Students connected science, environmental awareness, and language arts through outdoor exploration. They discussed key terms such as native, habitat, annual, and perennial. Fifth graders learned about the journey of water from the school's rain gardens to the Crow River, Mississippi River and ultimately the ocean. Students gathered natural items from these areas to create their own handmade nature bookmarks for their classroom reading.
