Future child psychologist Evelin Zavala knew that she wanted to go to graduate school, but the way seemed blurry. The McNair Scholars Program, which welcomes first-generation students who want to pursue doctoral studies, is helping her chart a course to her goals. More than 100 Beach students have completed the program since 2017. “It helped me, as a person, to take challenges as a student,” she said.
