What I’d automate:
→ Entries, so hesitation and chasing disappear
→ Position sizing, so size never depends on the last trade
→ Stops, exits, and daily loss limits, the rules most traders break first
What I’d never automate:
→ Deciding what to trade. An algorithm executes an edge. It doesn’t find one.
→ Deciding when to turn it off. Write your kill-switch rules before you go live.
And the honest part: automation doesn’t remove market risk, and it won’t fix a strategy without an edge. It just executes whatever you give it, losses included.
That’s the split I built my algorithm around. If you want to see how it works, comment “ALGO” and I’ll send you the details.
