A timely warning can change everything. It can give a family time to reach safety, a community time to prepare, and a country time to act before disaster strikes. We have made progress. Today more than 120 countries reported having multi-hazard early warning systems, a big leap from only about 50 countries a decade ago. But many countries and communities are still unprotected. Early warning systems are not a luxury, but a cost-effective tool that saves lives, reduces economic losses, and provides a nearly tenfold return on investment.
