Some much needed good news for Britain's wildlife 🦦
Several animals that were once on the brink of disappearing from Britain are making incredible comebacks, thanks to decades of conservation work, legal protection and efforts to restore their natural habitats.
Eurasian beavers, which were hunted to extinction in Britain around 400 years ago, are returning to our rivers through reintroduction programmes, while red kites have gone from just a handful of breeding pairs in Wales to being spotted across much of the UK.
European otters have also made a remarkable recovery after pollution and habitat loss devastated their populations in the 20th century.
And it's not just mammals and birds. Large blue butterflies, declared extinct in Britain in 1979, have been successfully reintroduced following extensive conservation efforts.
While many species still face serious threats, these success stories show just how much of a difference protecting wildlife can make.
