There will be no school tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, per superintendent Jeanice Swift’s email sent, at 5:45 p.m. due to power outages across the district. 19 Ann Arbor Public School campuses have no power as of 4 p.m. today, Feb. 23, 2023. “We appreciate your partnership and support during this time as we work to safely return our students to school,” Swift said. “Today and over the coming days is an excellent time to reach out and support each other, to check in with your neighbors and classmates, as we all work together to navigate this electrical outage and ice storm emergency as an Ann Arbor community.” According to Swift, DTE officials have stated that their goal is to restore power to southeast Michigan schools by Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 during emergency operations meetings today. “Due to the high number of downed wires (close to 3,000), DTE officials are urging everyone to stay indoors and out of their yards at this time,” Swift wrote. “Fallen trees and limbs can hide e...
