At 10:10 p.m., Ann Arbor Public Schools superintendent Jeanice Swift announced that there will be no school tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 23 due to power outages impacting AAPS school buildings. “Restoration times remain uncertain due to significant impact across the area,” Swift said. “Many downed electrical lines further complicate the current situation, and the expectation continues that icy roads will impact bus transportation in the morning.” At 6:04 p.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 22, the National Weather Service confirmed that the ice storm warning will stay in effect until 4 a.m. tomorrow for Washtenaw, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and St. Clair counties. As of 10:10 p.m., DTE’s outage center reports 216, 005 customers without power and 1,826 crews helping to mitigate the power outage, while Consumer Energy reports 169,115 customers were affected by the power outage and crews are in the field.
