Mental health support requires more than translation. It requires cultural understanding. Through many years of working with diverse communities, I have learned how culture and lived experiences shape the way people understand and express trauma and emotional difficulties. Stigma, language barriers, and a lack of culturally appropriate services can prevent people from seeking support. Building trust through compassion, empathy, and culturally sensitive communication is an essential first step towards meaningful support. I've had the privilege of contributing to two BBC podcasts in Dari/Farsi and Pashto, discussing trauma and emotional difficulties from cultural perspectives. Because supporting mental health is not just about speaking someone's language; it's about understanding their world. 💙 With sincere thanks to the BBC and Najiba Kasraee for having me. You can listen to both interviews on BBC Dari and Pashto YouTube channels. #MentalHealth #CulturalSensitivity #TraumaInfor...
