President Trump has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. ambassador to Greece, the White House said Tuesday.
The move follows a string of damaging reports. Republican donor Eric Deters says Guilfoyle asked him to wire her $100,000 to pay off her American Express card just before her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025. In messages Deters gave The New York Times, Guilfoyle promised to be his “ride or die in Trump world” if he sent the money.
“We’re not happy,” Trump said Monday, when he was still “looking” at whether to fire her. A day later, his press secretary said Guilfoyle had been “a wonderful asset to the team.”
Guilfoyle, who was once engaged to Donald Trump Jr., was one of the first ambassadors Trump nominated in his second term. Neither she nor her lawyer immediately responded to requests for comment.
