The owners of this Joseph Eichler–designed house in California’s Marin County were first drawn to its glass-walled, postwar architecture, but it was the neighborhood’s sense of community that ultimately won them over. To update the home, they assembled a dream team that included marsden.architects, Lauren Geremia of
#AD100 firm geremia_design,
#AD100 firm terremoto_landscape, and range_builders.
The custom terrazzo floor became Geremia’s “launchpad” for the interiors, guiding her approach to emphasizing femininity, nature, and softness. The goal was less about preserving the interiors than preserving the experience of living in them—the views, the light, the relationships between rooms. Outside, Terremoto brought a similar balance of continuity and reinvention to the garden, with a focus on entertaining and wellness.
