Matt first visited Pitt while his family was touring colleges for his older brother. Seeing the Cathedral's Commons Room and Nationality Rooms made a lasting impression and he eventually returned to campus for degrees in architectural studies and Spanish. As someone who went on to study architecture at the graduate level and work in the field, Matt continues to see Oakland as a collection of buildings that illustrate architectural history. This 3ft, hand-drawn map of Oakland brings his story full circle. He is now documenting a place that helped shape his education and career. #CL100 ✍️ matthewdeanshaffer
