You may have read about the Preservation Society of Newport County’s decision to appeal federal agency approval of industrial-scale wind farms off the Rhode Island coast, part of the largest proposed industrial development project in the United States. We support green energy, but the agency that approved these projects ignored federal laws protecting the nation’s environmental and cultural resources. It’s imperative for preservation organizations to insist that federal agencies follow these laws. If we don’t stand up now to shortcuts in the legal process with regards to large industrial projects we will find that legal protections will no longer be there when we need them most, at sea or on land. We encourage you to learn more. Please read our appeals and answers to frequently asked questions. Link in bio. (p: Getty images) #wind #windfarm #historicpreservation
