Fashion, cocktails, music … and television! They are all featured in our upcoming Winter Gilded Age Lecture Series.
It starts on Thursday, January 26, with “’On Location From …’ HBO and ‘The Gilded Age,’” offering insights into the filming of Julian Fellowes’ popular historical series. We’ve told you about the Newport Mansions being featured in the show, but this time we’ll hear from other institutions that have been involved in and impacted by “The Gilded Age,” including the Hudson River Museum, Lyndhurst Mansion and the City of Troy, N.Y.
The lecture series will continue with:
• Thursday, February 9: "Fashioning America: African American Designers and Dressmakers"
• Thursday, February 23: “'I’ll Have Another' – Cocktail Culture in the Gilded Age"
• Thursday, March 2: “Gilded Age Orchestra of Newport”
All presentations will be in-person at The Elms or virtually via Zoom. Tickets will be available soon through
