Green Animals is most famous for its topiaries, of course – it is the oldest and most northern topiary garden in the U.S. But there is much more. From spring through autumn, Horticulturist Dan Christina keeps the property in bloom with an array of flowering bulbs, perennials, annuals and shrubs.
Right now, daffodils are the stars of the show – 19,000 of them in 58 varieties, from Actaea to Winter Waltz. Green Animals is recognized by the American Daffodil Society as one of 28 official Daffodil Display Gardens in the country – one of only three in New England.
Next come the tulips – more than 6,000 of them. And trees and other blossoming plants will be bursting with color over the next several weeks.
Green Animals opens for the season this Friday, April 15.
