You have to appreciate the layers of depth in gildedagehbo on HBOMax. Consider a scene from this past Monday where the character of Tom Raikes is a guest of a Mrs. Henry Schermerhorn in her box at the Academy of Music. She is not a real historical figure, but her name suggests a tie to Edmund Henry Schermerhorn (1815-1891), the original builder of Chepstow (see photo) and cousin to Caroline Schermerhorn Astor, who is portrayed in the show. Caroline, “the” Mrs. Astor, was a contemporary of many of our Gilded Age heroines, and had a home located next door to Marble House, called Beechwood. We can't wait to see what's next! thomascocquerel #NewportMansions #Rosecliff #gildedagehbo #gildedage #gildedagemansions #gildedagemansion #mansionsofthegildedage
