With daylight saving time coming to an end, and clocks being turned back one hour on Sunday morning at 2 a.m., here’s a timepiece of timeless quality. This 19th-century Louis XVI-style clock is on display in Gertrude Vanderbilt’s bedroom at The Breakers. The blue enameled globe held aloft by the three putti is dotted not with stars but with fleur-de-lys. The clock movement was made by Raingo Frères, a Paris-based firm that was patronized by royalty and exhibited at the World Fairs of the time.
