This realistic scale model of The Elms was made from Legos and other materials by Mike Trower of Independence, Missouri. Mr. Trower says the model, which he has given to The Preservation Society, was inspired by a visit years ago, when he found The Elms “the most beautiful [of the mansions] because of the symmetry of its design.” The model took a few weeks to build, using photos and plans as references. He created some pieces, such as the windows on the first floor, while the columns at the entrance came from a wedding cake topper. The model is fully detailed on all sides and is approximately 39 inches wide (not including the terraces on either side) and 15 inches high. The Preservation Society plans to display it to the public, but has not yet decided where. Many thanks to Mr. Trower for this very special gift. #NewportMansions #TheElms #thursdaythrills #thankfulthursday #architecturelovers #modelmaker #discovernewport
