When architect Richard Morris Hunt made alterations to Chateau-sur-Mer in the 1870s, this room – formerly part of the servants’ wing – became the Billiard Room. It is distinguished by a rugged look with carved ash paneling and false beams forming geometric patterns on the ceiling. The Billiard Room later was renamed the Morning Room. Only a few weekends remain before Chateau-sur-Mer closes for the season. It will be open Friday through Sunday, September 17-19; Saturday and Sunday, September 25 and 26; Saturday and Sunday, October 2 and 3; and Saturday through Monday, October 9-11. Tickets are not available at the house, but can be purchased by visiting the link in our bio, or at The Breakers, Marble House or The Elms. #NewportMansions #Chateausurmer #history #historicpreservation #DiscoverNewport
