When Jacqueline Kennedy became first lady in 1961, she began a project to restore the state rooms of the White House to reflect the artistic and architectural history of the presidential mansion. On Thursday, July 16, at 5:30 p.m., Katherine Gilliland, Docent Manager of the John F. Kennedy Library, will provide a behind-the-scenes look at this historic endeavor in the online lecture, “The People’s House: Jacqueline Kennedy’s White House Restoration Project.” To attend this lecture, please send an email to ProgramRSVP@newportmansions.org. Please write your full name and be sure the subject line says "Katherine Gilliland lecture." #NewportMansions #NewportRhodeIsland #DiscoverNewport #TheClassicCoast #VisitNewEngland #RhodeIsland #TheBreakers #Elms #History #ThingsToDoinNewport #RoadTrip #FamilyRoadTrips #Museums #Mountvernon #hillwoodestate #hillwoodmuseum #kennedylibrary
