Recently we received this small recipe booklet that appears to be from the early 20th century. It contains a recipe for Suffragette Salad. Perhaps such a dish was served at one of Alva Vanderbilt Belmont’s suffrage rallies at Marble House? This year we are celebrating the suffrage movement with a series of events, from the “Becoming Vanderbilt” exhibition that opens in March to the Newport Symposium in April, to the revival of Alva’s operetta “Melinda and Her Sisters” and the culminating centennial event at Marble House in August in partnership with the League of Women Voters.
