Since it was first conceived and commissioned by Canada NT fans back in 2002, the Voyageurs Cup has been awarded to the top team in the Northern country. Those fervent supporters took it upon themselves to create a domestic Canadian cup that would pit the best teams in the land, with one victorious club holding the ultimate token of their appreciation at the end of it all. Over the past two decades, it’s been a rather lopsided affair in favor of MLS clubs. Toronto holds 8, and CF Montreal leads the pack with 11. Before last year, the Whitecaps had only won once before. In 2022, they captured it again after a 7-year drought, but the one they just lifted on Wednesday feels even more special.
