The Kings aren’t treating Darius Acuff Jr. like a normal rookie. Sacramento took Acuff No. 7 overall after he averaged 23.5 points and 6.4 assists at Arkansas, won SEC Player of the Year and shot 44% from three. He followed that with 17.3 points and 5.3 assists in Summer League, where the Kings gave him one of the biggest offensive workloads in the entire tournament. And the organization hasn’t exactly been shy about their expectations. A Kings executive called him a “true franchise guy that we can build around,” while Doug Christie has already praised the 19-year-old’s leadership, saying age doesn’t determine who can lead a team. There’s obviously still a lot Acuff has to prove against NBA competition, especially defensively. But Sacramento is giving him something every young guard needs: the ball, the reps and the responsibility. I’m excited for this young guard’s career. 🔥 - @crssd for more basketball content! - james_hamNBA/X
