Thought Venice was the most overcrowded European city? Think again. In a recent report, the popular Croatian city of Dubrovnik was named the most “over-touristed” city. So if you’re planning your summer vacation there, you may want to pivot…
Dubrovnik counts 36 tourists for every local resident, and in 2019, it welcomed almost 1.5 million tourists (thanks in part to being a key “Game of Thrones” filming location). Unfortunately overtourism has caused multiple issues in the city, from traffic jams and infrastructure damages to a steep increase in prices and a lower quality of life for residents. Dubrovnik has been trying to curb the issue with different rules and regulations, giving suggestions to tourists on how to be a less disruptive visitor. While we don’t want to deter you from living out your “Game of Thrones” dreams, overtourism concerns are very real. Head to our link in bio to learn more.
